Product Details
The D-Link DAP-2690 AirPremier N Quadband PoE Access Point provides businesses with a solution for deploying next generation 802.11n Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs). Designed for indoor installation, this Access Point enables network administrators to deploy a highly manageable, robust and secure wireless network.
Solid Hardware with PoE support
Enclosed in a sturdy metal chassis, the DAP-2690 passed the strict UL 2043 testing, achieving “Plenum Rating” with its material adhering to strict fire codes for placement in air passageways. For installations in areas where power outlets are not readily available, the Access Point integrates 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE), to ensure flexibility and easy set-up.
Enhanced performance
The DAP-2690 delivers reliable Wireless N performance with no dead spots and rates of up to 300 Mbps simultaneously in both the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz Wi-Fi bands1. Support for the Wi-Fi Multimedia™ (WMM) Quality of Service feature makes it an ideal access point for audio, video, and voice applications.
Additionally, this Access Point supports load balancing to accomodate high volumes of traffic, and redundancy for fail-safe wireless connectivity.
Cost efficient advanced wireless security
The DAP-2690 provides industrial grade wireless security by supporting both Personal and Enterprise versions of WPA and WPA2 (802.11i). A RADIUS server is built-in, so administrators do not need to invest in an external resource.
This Access Point supports up to 8 VLANs for implementing multiple service set identifiers (SSIDs), effectively segmenting users on the network.
With multiple SSIDs, the number of APs required is reduced and costs kept to a minimum.
The DAP-2690 also includes a wireless client isolation mechanism to prevent direct client-to-client communication. Other features include MAC Address Filtering, Disable SSID Broadcast and rogue AP detection to further protect your wireless network.
Additionally, the DAP-2690 supports Network Access Protection (NAP), a feature of Windows Server® 2008. NAP allows network administrators to define multiple levels of network access based on individual client’s need. If a client is identified outside of their access area, the client will be automatically brought back to their permitted network access level.
