This miniscule yet powerful tape includes cassette memory for multi-picture search functions and index titling for easy video review, plus the ability to record additional information on the cassette itself. The memory chip also contains multi-search logic, that allows users to access different sections of the tape as they would a DVD.

The 64 kbit memory chip offers 16x the amount of memory currently available on a premium MiniDV cassette. When a Micro MV cassette is inserted into the camcorder, the first date of use, last date of use, available recording space, and titling capability is automatically displayed on the LCD screen.
